i am running ipcop on a p4 machine 1ith 1.5 gb ram, the problem is with my green interface. there is a power problem in our area now adays.when power lost the ipcop goes down and when power regains ipcop do not browse. then i have to hard reboot the system to make it browse. it do not work with soft reboot from its interface.pls tell if someone is facing this problem or have any solution

What do you mean by "when power regains ipcop do not browse"?

Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?

Why can't you put a UPS on it to smooth out the power problems?

we hav a UPS but it supports on;y 15 minutes. v hav load shedding for more then an hour, when ups goes don then systems goes down.and ipcop machine a hard reboot from its powwer button, i have also rebooted it from its command promt but it dodnt worked

There's an addon (apcupsd) for IPCOP that will tell the UPS to shutdown the IPCOP box after so much time on the battery.

the prblem is i have to rebot from button to ipcop machine to make it work properly

i think the problem is with the shutdown process, have any idea?


i m a new user and need aproval from admin

Sounds like your BIOS setting is setup wrong. There is an option for after power failure and you can set it to Power On (instead of Power Off).

How long has it been since the BIOS battery on the M/B has been replaced.

Some BIOS will loose all settings if battery is flat once disconnected from power so not start up properly.
But after another restart they will auto detect the rest of devices ok.

In short change the BIOS battery if the M/B is an older one.
For the sake of a $1 or $2 it might save you a lot of grief.

thanks, my bios setting is set to power on automatically on power failure,,, i will replace battery and will tell u soon
