Hi

I'm thinking of setting up an IPcop firewall, and i'm curious about the new intel atom boards. I'm not entirely shure if this is a good idea, because of the new NM10 chipset they fittet on these bords, and the fact that it don't have a IDE disk connector. The Pine Trail boards has a mini PCI express port, could i for instance use a pci express SSD and run IPcop for that?
On the positive sides it is more energy efficient and can be runned without active cooling, and it is more powerfull than the earlier Atoms.
Anyone here know if IPcop will work on these boards?

I know it would be bether to just buy a Atom 330 or 230 board, witch has proven it self to be a stabil platform, but where is the fun in that.

I appreciate all input aboute this matter :D

Regards

I'm also thinking about that - seems that 1.4.20 have a problem with SATA drives so the only options right now is 1.9.11

IPCOP 1.4.x is based on the Linux 2.4.x kernel which has limited support for SATA, Gib NIC, etc.

Yes, I've experienced it first hand when tryed to install at VBox SATA virtualisation. 1.9.11 had no problem with this.
Right now I'm just testing with VBox NAT for RED and VBox host-bridge for GREEN and it's working.
But I wonder how to add 3G modem (Huawei 1750 to be specific) after installation. Ah, won't know until I acquire it and connect
