I have just install IPCOP + Zerina

RED - GREEN - ORANGE - BLUE

I have disabled ping responses to all interfaces.

Everything appears to be working correctly but one thing that i am worried about is that I can ping the green network interface from my blue network.

Connecting via the VPN everything works as expected.

When I am not connected to the VPN, I can browse the internet and have not access to GREEN apart from the fact I can ping the GREEN interface...

I thought that BLUE only gave web access? Is there a misconfiguration in it?

This ping thingy is fubar^W misleading.

It does not "disable ping" but "does not enable ping" (okay if you do not understand this  ).
Anyway, since you have blue access enabled (can surf the internet), you can also ping blue IP and hence green IP.

:? So you are saying this is normal?

Just to confirm...

From BLUE I cannot ping any devices on the green network, only the GREEN interface?

Thanks

Yes.

If you want to disable ping, use BlockOutTraffic.

How the MYTH that "disabling/blocking ping" increases security still lives on baffles me to no end.

It does NOTHING to increase security and ONLY screws up any legit attempt to monitor and/or troubleshoot your own network.
